I see a soft LUD dated 08/21/2010 on my 485 and existing approved EAD on my portfolio. What doz this mean? Any ideas? Anybody?

If you want to play chess you got to play it by the rules. If you think you can win the game if we can change the rules, I would say it is not impossible but a long shot.
In USA every citizen is supposed to follow the law that is the fundamental reason why this place has been attracting so many immigrants ( anybody can pursue their dreams if they follow the law). If you think govt officials are above that you are wrong, if you encourage that by accepting it, that will not make this place any better than other third world democracies. All govt officials in the USA are accountable for what they are entrusted with, if you didn't know about it until now there is something wrong with the system we are working with. I can say this with full authority on this matter because I work for the goverment.
Let us give it a little though and see if fighting to make the dept follow the law is worth while. If we think it is not, getting a GC and living here is not any better than living back home.

And who is hurting because of this? Is it not you? And me? and our families? Whose fault is it that we refuse to actively participated in the effort that wants us to lead a stable life.

I am contributing to IV with my time/money/efforts from a long time. I had several face to face interactions with people here in Colorado when I used to ask them why they shy away from fighting for what they deserve. Trust me, it would be unfair to say that people want someone else to fight on their behalf, but what people want is an organization that can represent them in a fair manner, and they feel that IV has a long way to go before that stage comes. I posted a summary of suggested reforms in IV as a organization, but unfortunately it did not spark that positive debate which can bring such reforms. You can read the thread in your leasure time:

Transparency in its action is one such big thing. Lets just learn from an anti immigration forum called numbersusa.com. On their donation page (http://www.numbersusa.com/content/action/make-donation.html) they clearly mention that "NumbersUSA is recognized by Independent Charities of America as one of the top 3% of well-run charities. When you donate to NumbersUSA, you can be sure that the money is used responsibly." Can we here at IV make such bold statement and prepare ourselves to prove this point if a member ask such question?
I am no way opposing this campaign, I am supporting this and going to contribute too. But I guess its not too much to ask where these contribution will go, and what track able results they might bring.

Few days ago, I saw this on TV - An American soldier died in Iraq leaving behind a 29 year old Polish wife and 6-month-old US citizen baby. Wife's paper (adjustment of status from K1->GC) was pending for 6 months or so with USCIS. When USCIS came to know about the death of that soldier (US citizen and I do not know how they came to know about it), they issued deportation order for his wife. Reason being, primary applicant is no more in this world so his dependent's application is null and void. She has been running from door to door with a baby in one arm and death letter of her husband with deportation order in the other arm. There is no one to listen to her. She lost her husband; she is going to lose her house and ability to stay in this country.
I absolutely hate to say this but Mehul, I think your wife will be better off in her home country. Please weight this option as well. My prayers are with you.

Thats right. I don't see any issues with EB1 or EB2 movement, For gods sake EB2 came to 2005, EB1 is current. It is funny when the other poster said we need to work for EB1 also(It is current, what else you want to do there?).
I feel IV has to concentrate on EB3 now. Period.
It's simple. USCIS needs to understand it's just a plastic card and nothing else. People who have applied are going to be here no matter what.The return percentage is going to be less.

The career growth, job mobility and qualify of life of these half a million legal skilled immigrants is subverted by the bill in its current form.
1. Section 501(b) reduces the number of green cards to legal skilled immigrants from the current 140,000/year to 90,000/year and diverts the major portion of those green cards to future low-skills guest workers under the Y visa program. Seems like You are not waiting for GC for more than 8 years. You have not been separated from ur family for more than 3 years. Thats why you don't agree with EB3-I fight. Look at the PD for last 3 years. EB3-I is stuck in 2001 since early 2005. It has not moved in last 3 years and you are saying People should keep quiet about it. How selfish of you.

It depends on where ur I140 approval came from. What I mean by lag is they receive the application on 1st jun, they are working on assigning the lin # after 6 days. If they were at the same pace they should start working on the new I485 recived on Jun 1st today.

I will have to check with my attorney. But, my I-140 approval came from TSC but my I-485 application was sent to NSC.

I am a physician working in underserved areas in MN. I am greatly appreciated
in my community. I regularly get invited to Christmas parties by local congressmen. I never attend those due to my family obligations. However, this year I will attend and educate my congressmen as much as I can.
I am sure there are lot of physicians, like me affected by retrogression. Eventhough we live in remote areas, we can do whtever we can.
I am also willing to join in MN local chapter of IV. Any MN members kindly send me PM.

The only (long but possible) way to achieve some results is massive attack of the media. Average American people should realize the problem of the legal immigrants and THEY should start pressing the lawmakers for resolution. In fact there is a very simple solution - every H1/L1 visa should be covered by a GC option, providing that the immigrant has covered all requirements. And the USCIS administration should be pushed to do their job. Now, cunningly, uncle Sam (I would better say the "Edited" people) allows white collar slaves to come to the US, but hides the GC when time comes.
To be honest, I really believe that in 10-15 years time this problem will not exist anymore. Reasons? Several: First, the main donoring countries of white collar slaves are in process of sharp development and soon this source of "blood transfusion" to US will start drying up. Second, with the aging baby-boomers the need of "blood transfusion" will increase. Third, the high flow of low qualified legal/illegal Latinos changes the fabric of the American society and turns it into a Latin-American country, with all negative consequences, so the need of high tech immigrant component will increase. There are more factors but these three are enough.
So, if we are patient, in 10-15 years time the USCIS administration will start sending invitation ads all over the world, inviting legals and we would become proud holders of GCs :-)

This will enable us to post the links whenever someone brings-up the issue of H1b-only Ads next trime. I'm currently bargaining with my employer for that Letter.... They are saying that letter can be given now only if i don't ask for next Hike etc...
