Got 2 yr renewal.
Btw - why are lot of members mentioning FP related information under EAD? I did my FP last Oct. Should I be expecting second FP as a result of EAD renewal application. I am missing some thing basic here. Any pointers?
FP is mainly for E-filing folks, paper filers need not take FP.

As I said dont just take the example I gave, consider all the visa bulletin for the last 30+ years and you will fidn a lot of examples.
Pitha -- you forget one very important thing -- they still wasted 10K visas in 2006. So in Aug and July they had not actually consumed all the visas -- they just expected to in August and didn't manage to.

Why don't you tell other proud americans to not
1. admit us to your educational systems,
2. give us jobs, and
3. sponsor our green cards.
Why don't posters on this forum move back to their home country and concentrate on making their home country great instead of slamming into someone else's country and just living off the wealth others have created?
The bottom line is that a SKIL act is not needed. Hundreds of thousands of American programmers have lost their job to the third world, both in outsourcing and insourcing of third world programmers who work for cheaper wages. There is absolutely no need for more foreigners here and no need for more green cards. Temporary workers are just that - temporary. If you are on a temporary visa, work your time, make some money for your family and head home when your time is up. Don't cry that we don't provide enough green cards when you knew what kind of visa you were on.

I think your idea is good. But this could be very difficult to implement, at least for USCIS.
Another suggestion is that porting should be automatic. As soon as a person acquires the required qualification for EB2 + a letter from the company that the person's future job will be of EB2 caliber, UCSIS should put him/her in EB2 category. This is some thing we should work on.

Thanks for your advice. The intent of the letter is to show a different perspective to Senator Sessions. Nothing more or nothig less. He said he did not receive any feedback from legal immigrants. Fine, we say here it comes. If he continues to block legal immigration reform bills, he has to find another pretext, not "no feedback from immigrants".
There is always a rational side in every human being. Senator Sessions is smart. Let us hope Senator Sessions surprises us by bringing his own version of EB immigration reform.

But unless we make our situation known to these guys, we shouldn't really blame them.......Also, those with kids born in America might get more of a response from the legislators.

Hi,
I did my landing last weekend. It went smoothly. At the port of entry ( at Niagra falls) Immigration officer said that my pictures that they have will not work and they took new pictures right there. The immigration offices also explained that if i am going back to US and then entering Canada again by land , all i need to show are the landing paper that he attached with my passport. If we plan to travel by air then it might cause some issues and its better to have the card. The thing that he made clear to me is that i do not need PR card to enter Canada again by land.

Yes, that helps a lot, thanks for the info. I am leaning towards abandoning the card for now; don't think I should risk a trip to Canada again if other options are available such as traveling by car. Plus if I understand it correctly I can get a travel document from the Canadian embassy too for air travel.

EDIT: I called up the CIC center in Canada just to confirm my options today. The person I talked to said that it's true that to enter by land, you don't need a PR card; however, you will need at least one photo ID issued by a Canadian govt agency such as a drivers license. The landing document alone won't be sufficient as it doesn't have a photograph. She advised that a travel document should be issued easily enough, as long as I've maintained the residency requirements.

I think we all understand we are in this together. No doubt.
A single post from CORE IV can make a huge difference to herd the cattle (including myself) here. For Instance, AILA letter asking for H1B and EB relief today.
I had posted a modified version of their letter in our forum in which I had deleted asking for raise in H1 and retained only EB part. IF IV core thinks
this is a good (or a bad ) idea and suggests what to do, our members will be energized.
For my part, I have added my personal story, added the EB relief part of AILA letter and emailed two senators and one congressman in my state.
Also, the same letters signed are ready in an envelope to be snail mailed.
So, IV core, from time to time, when there is a campaign by AILA and other organizations which could help us, please suggest how you would like us to proceed.I am not trying to create more work for you, but as a member, I think it would benefit all of us.

Your idea is good and I would encourage you to go ahead and send such letters to lawmakers. Any effort that is in line with IV's agenda and helps us in any way will be helpful to all of us. IV endorsed efforts are listed in action alerts page. If you choose to go and meet the lawmakers we have put together all information for this purpose
