Below is my post from one of the other threads and think might help the discussion here...
I sincerely think that the reason why various immigration agencies are getting away with 'doing nothing' for Legal immigrants is because media does not discuss the backlogs in the immigration system. If we can focus on some really shocking statistics....data...and request some reasonable media personnel to discuss and take up as a story...it would be more helpful than all flower campaigns...and other forms of protests. I wrote to Fareed Zakaria today and you can do so as well. We can try other famous personalities on CNN such as Soledad O�Brien. If you know anybody on the Fox News side who might sympathize and investigate the issue, try them as well. Every media and politicians bracket us in the same group as illegals or fraud H1Bs...that image needs to change before something can happen...its absolutely bizarre and immoral in my opinion when the head of DHS cannot go to congress and say that there is an unfair situation for Legal Immigrants from India/China in the immigration system and she needs temporary assistance in fixing the system. Sec of State and Head of DHS surely have the authority to refer an unfair situation in the congress for a temporary legislative solution until the CIR is addressed.

Guys please send the flowers...I know we dont have very good publicity like others...we need to find the way to get the media atten. One reporter might be intrested in our news not evry one, to get evey body atten we need to do it in samrt and in different way..guys bunch of people are thinking the flower day is good, other think it is not, we have this problem from ages.
If one send flowers or e-mail it is not news..if every body joins it is gonna be a greate news.

I don't think the Canadian officers will ask you that question. But like someone else said on this thread that question may be raised by the US officers when you return. I am curious to know about this myself.

Am in the same boat....485 submitted to NSC on July 2nd....140 pending in TSC. I called the Nebraska Service center at 1-800-375-5283, option 1-2-2-6-2-2-1 and the agent escalated my call ...then was told that if my I-140 was in Texas then the 485 will be tranaferred there. Its taking 6-8 weeks for receipt notices. On asking if transferring will take longer...she said no....will not take longer.

Quick question...we applied for NSC on aug 2nd..did not hear anything yet. Just wondering did all of u , whose cases got transfered to other centers get Transfer notices or directly receipt notices.
I am gettign tensed as the days are passing by.

Both and spouse and I received my receipts for our I-485, I-140, EAD, AP 09/19/07. On 09/24/07 we received fingerprint notice and on 09/27/07 we received our EAD card. I am quite surprise by how fast it came. Here are my details :
Priority Date: 10/15/04
Type: EB3
I-140/I-485: Concurrently filing at NSC. Receipt date 07/07/07
Checks cashed: 09/10/07
Receipts received: 09/19/07
Fingerprint appt: 10/09/07

both me and my spouse also got our receipts for I-485/EAD on Sept 24th. Filed on July 20 (NSC). We received transfer notices (CSC TO NSC) for I-485 on Sept 28th. Received EAD card on Oct 1st. Did not receive FP notices yet. Any idea how long will it take to get the FP notices after receiving all the receipts and EAD card?

USCIS received it April 22, 08. Filed all the forms together I-140, I-485, I-765 & I-131.

Looks like this is a good idea. Even if FB2 is not current, USCIS might allow applying for 485 in such cases.
Maybe someone more knowledgable or from the core members can throw some light on this.

Call them a lot of us did, when we got moved from one center (receipt notice) to another for processing. You should get a FP notice soon after you talked to them!
